At Namma Tulunadu Trust, we believe that saving rural schools is not just about improving infrastructure – it's about preserving language, culture, and identity. In the villages of Coastal Karnataka, schools are more than just educational institutions; they are community hubs that nurture local traditions, languages, and cultural values.
Why is This Important?
In rural areas, schools are often the heart of cultural preservation. They are the first places where children learn to read, write, and communicate in their mother tongue, including Tulu and Kannada. By strengthening rural schools, we ensure that local languages continue to thrive, and traditional art forms, folklore, and community values are passed down to future generations.
However, many rural schools are underfunded and lack basic infrastructure, leading to low student attendance and high dropout rates. Inadequate facilities, outdated teaching methods, and limited access to technology create a significant learning gap between urban and rural students.
Our School Upscaling Project aims to bridge this gap by reviving rural schools and making them centers of quality education, cultural preservation, and digital literacy.
Our Objectives:
Infrastructure Improvement – Building and renovating classrooms, toilets, libraries, and playgrounds to provide a safe, clean, and inspiring learning environment.
Digital Literacy & Advanced Computer Labs – Setting up smart classrooms and digital labs to equip students with essential technological skills.
Quality Education & Teaching Methods – Introducing innovative teaching techniques, teacher training, and modern educational resources to enhance learning outcomes.
Hygiene & Sanitation – Constructing toilets and clean water facilities to ensure better hygiene and health for students.
Community Engagement & Support – Involving local communities, parents, and volunteers to build a supportive educational ecosystem.

Our Objectives:
School Assessment: Identifying schools in need and assessing infrastructure gaps.
Fundraising & Partnerships: Collaborating with donors, corporates, and community leaders for financial support.
Renovation & Construction: Executing construction, repairs, painting, and infrastructure enhancement projects.
Digital Empowerment: Setting up advanced computer labs and providing digital literacy training.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Regularly monitoring progress and evaluating the impact on student learning outcomes.
